The restaurant in Aabenraa in Copenhagen stands out as one of the most eye-catching restaurants in the family. Decorations and colour settings were left entirely in the hands of the famous Danish artist, Sven Dalsgaard, when the restaurant was renovated. It was the first time an artist was allowed to leave his personal mark, so dramatically, in any of the A Hereford Beefstouw restaurants – resulting in ‘threatening letters’ from a couple of regular customers while the renovation was taking place.
The final result, however, was stunning – and the critical voices stopped. Today, the restaurant is one of the coziest and most intimate restaurants in the chain.
A unique luminous wine shelf made from plexiglas illuminates the room while the customers can select a lobster of their choice from the fish tank. Children take special pleasure in watching the big lobsters crawl around, but the staff have had several funny experiences as well.
"A customer from the neighbourhood came to the restaurant to celebrate because his daughter was getting married. They wanted lobsters, but we were all sold out because of the up-coming holiday. One of the friends of the family then bought four lobsters at a nearby fish shop – we grilled them in the restaurant – and we all had a great evening. Apart from the lobsters, they also had quite a few steaks. It really was a lot of fun," recalls former manager Paul Loichtl. The restaurant has room for 88 guests.
