WINE
Prime beef and wine are the heart and soul of A Hereford Beefstouw. Every year, we search the vineyards of the world to ensure our customers the best possible wines to accompany their dinner. As a result our meticulous search, we import up to 90 per cent of the wines on the wine list ourselves.
Several times a year, we travel the vineyards of France to taste and select the best products – and with more than 30 years of experience we know what to look for.
The majority of our wines are still French, but new and exciting vintages from other parts of the world are finding good company on our wine list.
The house wine is a story in itself. We have a very close relationship with the Château Roustan, and every year, we participate when future generations of the wine are being decided upon. The wine is imported to Denmark in huge tankers where we store it in steel vats at our storage facilities in Herning. The wine is store here until, we tap it onto casks and distribute it to the restaurants. At the restaurants, we tap and decant the wine with a unique device invented and produced by Søren Damgaard, before serving it to the customer. This special device consists of four long transparent acrylic tubes that drives the wine towards a carafe. The journey through the tubes oxidizes and aerates the wine to ensure the perfect sensation of taste once it is served.
